Its finally here and a hip-hop renaissance is about to begin showing that the lessons from the past can be combined with the innovations of the present, as Celph Titled and Buckwild have joined forces to create a neo-classic with Nineteen Ninety Now; bringing the art form full-circle through this groundbreaking collaboration. By having uninhibited access to legendary producer Buckwild’s original mid-90’s production, Celph Titled was able to select and record to over 16 unreleased bangers; bringing his charismatic flow and lyrical prowess to each one.

Nineteen Ninety Now is more than a collaboration of great minds with impeccable taste; it’s also the long awaited debut album from Celph Titled, who already has gained a huge underground following as a core member of Jedi Mind Tricks’ Army of the Pharaohs crew, his own trademark Demigodz releases and his involvement in Mike Shinoda’s

Fort Minor project. While Celph is a producer in his own right, the chance to work with Buckwild and actually have the opportunity to capture the lost sound of the 90’s by utilizing vintage tracks from Buckwild’s vault that have never been heard before was a no-brainer—and here’s why. Multi-platinum producer Buckwild from the legendary Diggin’ In The Crates crew (D.I.T.C.) has produced countless classics over the last two decades for artists ranging from Artifacts, 50 Cent, Big L, Brand Nubian, CNN, Faith Evans, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Diddy, The Game, Redman, Shyne, Swizz Beatz, Big Pun and Jay-Z. To boot, he’s also the producer behind indelible classics from Notorious B.I.G (“I Got A Story To Tell”), Black Rob (“Whoa”), O.C. (“Times Up”) and Organized Konfusion (“Stress”).

Revisiting the classic SP-1200 and Akai-S950 sound that reigned supreme in Hip-Hop’s “Golden Era,” the beats on Nineteen Ninety Now were originally produced by Buckwild between the years of 1994-1995–but never recorded to. Buckwild fondly recalls what it was like to dig back into those crates “although I’ve stayed ahead of the times as a producer, it was a lot of fun to load up these old disks. Joints I forgot I even had, stuff I haven’t heard in 15-years. It was definitely a welcomed experiment that turned out amazing. Further, he comments on the concept he and Celph embarked on and its possibilities in the future “essentially this is a concept album that’s a first of its kind. I wanted to be able to resurrect a 90′s sound that once was and combine it with 2010 rhymes. I consider this album to be monumental because it could literally not only change the game, but change the way people feel. Dudes complain about the game but they ain’t doing anything. Nobody has done this concept before us. I wouldn’t be surprised if this creates a demand for other MC’s and producers who were around in the 90′s to get together and dig through shoeboxes of floppy disks to feed the fans more of the lost sound they still crave for and I’m all for it.”

While Celph has enjoyed success with his Demigodz crew and all of his endeavors, it may surprise some that Nineteen Ninety Now is his true debut and the importance of this project was not lost on him, as he laments on how meticulous the recording process was for this project “We took three-years to construct this album. This is the project I’ve always wanted to do. To have my debut solo-album produced entirely by a legend like Buckwild can’t be topped in my mind. My first album is always going to be looked at as a masterpiece to all my fans.”

Celph also comments on why harkening back into this very specific time period of Hip-Hop is moving forward and not backward “It’s actually refreshing to hear authentic beats produced in the 90′s finally unveiled. It reminds you of all the dope production methods and sounds that are no longer used today. Nineteen Ninety Now takes you right back to that feeling–even if it’s just for one album.”

Celph Titled and Buckwild will release Nineteen Ninety Now on 10-26-2010 on No Sleep Recordings.

CAM’RON ANNOUNCES THE FORMATION OF U.N., DIPSET WEST, AND THE APPOINTMENT OF OMAR “ICEMAN” SHARIF AS ITS NEW CEO AND CO-OWNER.

After leaving the Dipset crew, Cam’ron returned in 2009 with his first solo album in three years, Crime Pays, and a new movement The U.N. andDipset West.  Originally a co-founder of Dipset, Cam’ron calls his new company, The U.N. and its subdivision Dipset West, an expansion of the Dipset brand which now includes the music, film, and DVD sub-divisions.   ”When we started Dipset, it was more than just a crew, it was a movement. The U.N.  is a continuation of that movement. Our new roster: Charlie Clips, Byrd Lady, Vado, Fly Boyz, Begetz and Young Hustle were all selected by me and my business partner, Omar “Iceman” Sharif.  He has made his name in the music and film industries brokering and securing multi-million dollar deals, merging hip-hop with Hollywood. His experience is exactly what we need to make strategic connections at the next level,” explains Cam’Ron.

Omar “Iceman” Sharif, CEO of The U.N. and partner/co-owner of its subdivision, Dipset West made his name brokering multi-million dollar deals in the film and music industries.  In his career, he’s executive produced over 40 albums with artists such as Onyx, ODB, Mariah Carey, Trey Lorenz, AZ, Sheek Louch, Hell Rell, Killah Priest, RZA, Sunz of Man, Loon, Slim Thug, and Xzibit. In 2000, before Koch Records (now E1) became a major independent recording powerhouse, Sharif secured a deal for Onyx member, Fredro Starr, one of the first deals for the newly formed label.  In 2002, he brokered a ground-breaking multi-million distribution deal for Suge Knight’s Death Row Records catalog to be distributed through Koch.

In film, Sharif made his name executive producing the longest running hip-hop documentary to date, American Rap Stars (2002) featuring Jay-Z, Run DMC, Russell Simmons, Rick Ruben, and Ludacris to name a few.  In 2005, he released the follow-up Female American Rap Stars featuring Missy Elliot, MC Lyte, Eve, and more. Sharif also secured the $2 million dollar deal with Lions Gate for director/actor/rapper Sticky Fingaz‘s directorial debut, A Day in the Life featuring an all-star cast of Hollywood’s elite actors such as Mekhi Phifer, Omar Epps, Michael Rapaport, Bokeem Woodbine, Drena De Niro (Robert’s daughter), Tyrin Turner, Faizon Love, Fredro Starr, Troy Garity, Treach, Mike Williams and Malinda Williams just to name a few.

No stranger to the big screen himself, Cam’ron made his acting debut on the 2002 film Paid in Full, where he played the character Rico, based on former Harlem drug dealer Alpo. Fascinated with the creative process, in 2006, Cam’ron made his screenwriting and directorial debuts in the direct to video movieKilla Season. He played a high school basketball player who eventually drops out of high school to begin his own drug ring.  The first installment sold over 200,000 DVDs.

While he sets his eye towards Hollywood, Cam’ron keeps a timb in the streets with several upcoming studio releases: The Gangsta Grillz Mixtapewith DJ DramaU.N.‘s debut album, solo albums for Vado, Begetz and ultimately a solo album from Cam himself.  “We got a movie coming out called The Bakery and then we’ll drop the second installment of Killa Season. We’re also discussing the release of The Guy Fischer bio-pic.” Guy Fischer is the convicted racketeer, once part of The Council, a notorious African-American crime organization, who controlled the heroin trade in Harlem from 1972-1983. “In between films, we’ll keep the streets hot with The Gangsta Grillz Mixtape and we’ll most likely release Vado’s album immediately after.  Vado got the streets on smash, and in Harlem, he’s got an unbelievable buzz. Everybody in Harlem already knows what it is,” expresses Cam’ron.  “Between the films and the music coming soon on U.N. and Dipset West, we gonna keep the ‘hood in a frenzy!”

After stepping into the indie music scene with the Hood Hop 2 digital project in February, J-Kwon will unleash an entire collection of new music with Gracie Productions/EMI on July 28. The album Hood Hop 2.5 offers 13 original tracks from the St. Louis dynamo, as he offers a remix contest for budding producers and prepares a new online reality show in conjunction with the release.

J-Kwon’s new single “Louie Bounce (I Smacked Nikki)” is produced by songwriter J Skillz da Bandman and features emcee Gino Green. The single is a classic J-Kwon smash giving much love to his native St. Louis. Other standout tracks on Hood Hop 2.5 include “Tipsy 09,” an update of J-Kwon’s smash 2004 hit “Tipsy,” and “Do The Stevie” – yet another surefire dance favorite.

Now a vet in the industry at only 23-years-old, J-Kwon enjoyed formidable success while still in high school as a part of Jermaine Dupri’s reign at Arista. His rough upbringing gave way to edgy lyrics that became hit songs like “Tipsy,” “You & Me” and “Hood Hop” in 2004 and his collaboration with Bow Wow and Jermaine Dupri “Fresh Azimiz” in 2005. A hiatus from the hectic pace of the industry gave J-Kwon fresh insight for his future.

“I am happy to be giving my longtime fans music that excites me,” explains J-Kwon. “Hood Hop 2.5 is another chapter of my growth as an artist, and I look forward to giving the my generation what they want. From party songs to lyrics about life – I can do it all. I have a long career ahead of me, and I hope the fans are ready to take this journey with me.”

Multi-platinum producer, instrumentalist and recording artist Dame Grease  has long been known as a maverick in the music world. His raw and infectious sound defies convention and has helped to establish the careers of Hip Hop legends such as DMX, The LOX, and Swizz Beatz. The same ear that helped to build the success of those talents has now been tuned toward The Auto-Tunes, a new and innovative virtual Hip Hop group that Dame Grease has signed to his Vacant Lot imprint.

Following in the aftermath of the release of Hip Hop great Jay-Z’s controversial “Death of Auto-tune” record, the new group aims to re-establish a trend of good music through animated features and music videos.  “Blanket Jackson”, the leader of The Auto-Tunes, stated that “[we] knew to make this project work that we would need a producer with a combination of the right talent, background and leadership to bring us together, and Grease was that producer. We’re lucky to be able to be the next group that he will bring that level of success to.

Grease, whose music has sold over 50 million records worldwide, originally broke out as the producer for The LOX’s “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa” and DMX’s smash single “Get At Me Dog.” As someone who has experienced the rewards of Hip Hop, Grease still displays the same enthusiasm as when he entered the business over 10 years ago, stating “When I met Blanket we connected on a musical level and I could see he has the same focus on good music that I’ve carried with me throughout my career.”

The first single from The Auto-Tunes is entitled “Get It Off” . The single will be released exclusively on Dame Grease’s website http://www.damegrease.ning.com.

“Goon Music 2.Owww” will also feature appearances by Akon’s artist French Montana, Max B, Sheek Louch, Freeway, Jae Millz, and the Clipse over tracks produced by Grease.

Hip-Hop legend and founding member of the seminal group Brand Nubian,
Grand Puba announces his signing with indie powerhouse Babygrande
Records for the release of his fourth solo album, “Retroactive”
on June 23, 2008.

Grand Puba has been a crucial participant in the hip-hop movement since
its early days. Originally a member of the group Masters of Ceremony, he
became the lead emcee of the New Rochelle-based Brand Nubian in 1989.
Although their upbeat music and positive lyrics tied them stro ngly to the
Native Tongues movement (De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest etc.) Brand
Nubian’s politics and religion were always at the forefront of their music,
paving the way for groups like Dead Prez, RZA & GZA (of Wu-Tang), Black
Star, Brother Ali & countless others.

As a solo artist, Grand Puba has been extremely successful as well. Many
consider both his release of “Reel 2 Reel,” (’92) and “2000″ (’95) to be
classics. In 1998, he reunited with Brand Nubian for “Foundation” and in
2004 for “Fire In The Hole” on Babygrande. With the forthcoming
“Retroactive” release, Grand Puba once again returns to his trademark
style–brilliant lyrics, socio-political themes and a smooth laid-back delivery.
Grand Puba’s flow is as refined as ever, his beat selection top-notch, and
the finished project promises to fill a much needed void in hip-hop, at a time
when positive, progressive and upbeat messages are sorely needed in the
world. “Grand Puba is the father to so many styles in hip-hop. Its good to
have him back–the game needs him. We have a great relationship with
Brand Nubian and we had so much success with Lord Jamar’s solo release
in 2006 that it only makes sense to keep it in the family,” says Chuck Wilson
Babygrande’s CEO.
