“CROSS BRONX” STARRING JERRY FERRARA AND DANIA RAMIREZ IN STORES MAY 20TH

Posted by bigced on May 20, 2008

Codeblack Entertainment, America’s premier source for quality urban films, will release the edgy street drama, Cross Bronx starring Jerry Ferrara of the widely popular HBO series, Entourage, rising Latin star Dania Ramirez of X-Men: The Last Stand, NaShwan Kearse, co-star of the Emmy Award Winning Desperate Housewive,s and James Badge Dale of HBO’s mini-series The Pacific.

Screenwriter Larry Golin makes his directorial debut with the smash hit drama, Cross Bronx which features a talented cast. This affecting coming-of-age story focuses on the lives of four life-long friends in their early twenties and the trials and tribulations the young men face as they attempt to find their way in life and love, while striving to make their respective dreams come true. Schiek (Nashawn Kearse), star of the baseball team, wants everyone to think he’s had a successful tryout with a major-league ball club, when the truth is he has no shot of even making it to the minors. Vivo (Jerry Ferrara), who comes from a family of bush-league gangsters, wants to join the mob, but has a hard time becoming the tough guy he thinks he’s supposed to be. Ike (Max Greenfield), who has talent as a wrestler, needs to get his own demons in check if he’s to make anything of himself. And Rob-O (Badge Dale) wants to be an artist; he thinks he’s found both a business manager and a girlfriend in the attractive woman who lives upstairs, but he isn’t sure how to tell her that he’s a good bit younger than she thinks.

Set brilliantly against the gritty backdrop of the Bronx, this talented, multi-cultural cast give fine performances that round out a well written and directed film.

Cross Bronx was screened at the TriBeCa Film Festival and won for Best HD Film as well at the Ashland Independent Film Festival and won for Best Feature Length Dramatic Film.  The film also nabbed the Cinevegas Festival Audience Award as well as the Urbanworld Film Festival’s Audience Award.

Cross Bronx will be available on DVD at leading retail merchants including Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE, Wal-Mart, Target, and Blockbuster.
