Bullet Makes his Mark
Official Debut Single – Earth Girls
  bullet

As he gears up to release his debut project Back to the Lyrics, Chicago MC Bullet delivers his first official single from the project, Earth Girls. The song produced by Slot-A proves why this young lyricist is able to conform and please different markets, a trait which many adopt but yet fail to adhere to.

Having made the journey from the battle field to the open arena many mainstream artists find themselves situated in today, Bullet has a plethora of concepts, lessons and connotations on hand; guaranteed to seduce his fan base with when his Back to the Lyrics becomes available for free download on June 1st.

This offering has been in the works for the last eighteen month and when questioned about  making it available for free download the new voice of Chicago had this to say. “I know when people put so much time and effort into projects like I did with this, you do kind of want to see some financial gain; but there is better music to come from me which I am working on right now,” he shared. “This is about wooing and wowing fans old and new.”

With a strong team behind him Bullet is being heard by the right ears and noticed by the right eyes. His roots firmly grounded in the Windy City, Bullet hopped on a plane down to Atlanta to record the hook for Earth Girls. When questioned about Atlanta, like many of his peers, Bullet expresses a love for the Hip-Hop stronghold. “Getting out of Chicago is sometimes a good thing, especially when it comes to recording. It was like turning the page of a book when I got in the studio to record Earth Girls,” he commented. “Another new chapter had begun.”

Bullet has a strong relationship with The Cool Kids who have been there to offer advice and guidance to the 21 year old when needed. Like all MCs coming up in the city that has birthed personalities such as Common, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Twista, Bullet recognizes that to each his own; but a good network and support system is essential.

This single shows that I am about taking Hip-Hop to the next level, I don’t want to be a stereotypical rapper, I want people to be waiting to see what I am going to bring each and every time I push a project, single, freestyle or album.” With Earth Girls, its heavy bass and synthesizer driven production, it is obvious that Bullet is staying true to his words.

Yo! News: Nas Drops First Single, Album Pushed Back

Posted by bigced on April 24, 2008

With new material from his upcoming album recently leaked, Nas is ready to release his highly anticipated project “N*gger”.

Although most media outlets had reported that his controversial album will be released in April, his rep said that the project will hit stores in July. The album title “N *gger” caused a lot of controversy from political activist but it seems that Nas is contempt with the name of the album and has no plans on changing the title.

The Que ensbridge MC recently leaked the first track “Be A N*gger Too” and Hip-Hop websites and Bloggers went crazy. Nas begins with “You are now allowed to listen to the radio, real niggers are back (on the radio)” and continues on the chorus “I’m a n*gger, he’s a n*gger, she’s n*gger, we some n*ggers/ wouldn’t you like to be a n*gger too/ They like to strangle n*ggers, blame a n*gger, shootin’ n*ggers, hangin’ n*ggers/ still you wanna be a n*gger too… true.”

On the Salaam Remi-produced track, Nas uses the dreaded “N-Word” repeatedly to get his point across. With lyrics like, “Not mad cause Eminem said N*gger/ Cause he’s my N*gger/ Wigger/ Cracker friend/ We all black within/ We all African within/ Some African’s don’t like us no way/ A killin happened in Johannesburg yesterday,” Nas makes reference to Eminem using the “N-Word”.

It Needs To Be CED: Racial Tensions In Crown Heights Again! So, How Come You Didn’t Hear About It?

Posted by bigced on April 24, 2008

Thursday, 24 April 2008

So, once again, as I do on a daily basis, I am reading the newspaper and I read a story that was a follow-up to something I came across yesterday in the New York Daily News. In Crown Heights, (King of Racial Unrest between Blacks and Jews) there was another incident of an attack that was based on racial tension. This time, it was a Black man that was attacked by Jewish men and maybe this is why it isn’t front page news across the nation. We do know that if it were the other way around, I wouldn’t have to be the one telling you about this new story!

I just find it amazing that Andrew Charles, a 20 year old college student, was attacked by 2 Hasidic Jews on Albany Ave. in Brooklyn and there doesn’t seem to be any interest in the media to cover a story that, had it been the reverse, Black men attacking Hasidic Jews, we would have been force fed the story several times during television newscasts, email alerts and blog entries.

The attack was enough that the victim had to be taken to Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center for treatment. And, of course, not surprisingly, no one from the Jewish community is speaking on it or cooperating with the police, yet, if this were taking place in the Black community, the police would be plastered all over TV to complain how no one is coming forward and they can’t solve anything because witnesses are refusing to cooperate. Have we heard a peep from law enforcement? Of course not! Are there camera crews going into the neighborhood to get comments from the community? No and it makes you wonder.

And I think the ONLY reason the police are even getting involved is because the victim is the son of a police officer……

Here is the link to the Daily News story- http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2008/04/24/2008-04-24_grand_jury_to_investigate_attack_on_blac-2.html

PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH VOTER REGISTRATION INCREASED OVER 70% IN 2008; NATIONAL HIP-HOP TEAM VOTE SUMMIT IN PHILADELPHIA MAKES AN IMPACT

Posted by bigced on April 24, 2008

Today, the Hip-Hop Research and Education Fund (HREF) released information garnered from the Pennsylvania State Board of Elections, which verified that the hip-hop generation will make a clear difference in the outcome of the Pennsylvania primary. Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of the Hip-Hop Research and Education Fund, stated, “The fact that over 70% of the 218,923 new voters that have registered since January 2008 across the state of Pennsylvania are between the ages of 18-35 years old clear;y verifies the power of the young voter who will participate in tomorrow’s Pennsylvania primary and determine its outcome. Based on our on the ground feedback in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Erie, Chester and throughout the great metropolitan area of Philadelphia, we are certain that, beginning early tomorrow morning, we are all going to witness the largest youth voter turnout in the history of the state. This will happen, to a large extent, because of the enthusiasm and vitality of the hip-hop generation who view the Pennsylvania presidential primary as a once in a life time opportunity to show that young people throughout Pennsylvania do care about the quality of life issues addressed in the campaign. And, more important, hip-hop voters want to make a difference and want to help shape the future of what political change looks like from the perspective of young voters.”

The prediction from HREF comes in the wake of yesterday’s successful mobilization of 7,000 18-35 year olds who attended the “Hip-Hop Team Vote: Turn Up the Vote” Summit at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

On one of the last crucial days leading up to the important Pennsylvania primary, HREF, PowerPac and The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) brought together Russell Simmons, T.I., Ciara, Flo-Rida, Lil Mama, Chrisette Michelle, Styles P, Lil X, Gorilla Zoe, Green Lantern, BET’s “106 & Park” star hosts Rocsi and Terrence J, Latino hip- hop/reggaeton stars Alexis y Fido, O’Neal McKnight, Emily King and NAACP National Director, Youth and College Division, Stefanie Brown to address topics that resonate with young people in the upcoming election such as education, the economy, healthcare and the war in Iraq.

Russell Simmons, hip-hop entrepreneur, philanthropist and activist declared at yesterday’s Summit, “Voting is an act of empowering oneself and the masses are witnessing the importance of the youth vote.” Addressing the crowd he stressed, “You are going to make the critical difference!”

Kirk Clay, Sr., National Field Director, PowerPAC, declared, “The Summit was an amazing way to show how youth can come together to inspire us and demonstrate the power they hold in their hands. I am sure this will have a resounding impact across the college and high school campuses in Pennsylvania.”

T.I. emphasized, “I personally know the value of having the right to vote and it being taken away from you. This is the most important election of our lifetime. Focus on what you can do to help make the change. Everyone here has a voice– Do your part!”

As one of the youngest female rappers on the stage, Lil Mama especially appealed to young, new voters, emphasizing, “I came out of the hood and I know that if we want to improve these communities, all of us must go out and vote in record numbers.”

Ciara focused on education as one of the priority issues concerning young people in the upcoming Pennsylvania primary and presidential election. Her strong and clear message to the audience was, “Don’t just talk about it, be about it! You can be part of making a difference.”

Flo-Rida said, about the upcoming election, “Here’s the chance to make your children’s children’s world a better place.”

Stefanie Brown, National Director, Youth and College Division, NAACP addressed the Summit and stated, “The NAACP is encouraging a massive youth voter turnout. Civic engagement is an important responsibility.”

Yellow Rebel Speaks to The Alchemist and Havoc about Prodigy’s Latest CD

Posted by bigced on April 24, 2008

Written by Yellow Rebel

Wednesday, 23 April 2008

Yellow Rebel: Now my first question, I know P’s been blowing up the blog-o-sphere with his blogs, do y’all ever find yourselves disagreeing with anything he says?

Havoc: Yeah I mean all the time, know what I’m saying? But you know that don’t f—k with me and his friendship. I disagree with him a lot. (Laughs). And a lot of things he say and do I don’t agree with sometimes, but that’s still my family. Know what I mean? And that’s just the bottom line.

Alchemist: I mean we all grown men, of course. We got opinions and we disagree. That’s why we all sit around tables and have conversations. You know to be a grown man, you can’t, you know for everybody to follow everybody’s opinion , you can’t even have a conversation. If everybody’s like “Yeah I agree”, you ain’t going nowhere.

YELLOW REBEL: Like a bunch of ‘Yes-men’

Alchemist: Nah, I respect that he ain’t afraid to put his opinion out. A lot times he’s right.

YELLOW REBEL: Like on his last blog, did you ever call him out on anything that he said?

HAVOC: Man, I’m done with all that.

Alchemist: Nah, unless there’s a reason too. I respect him. P’s been putting his opinion’s out through his music since day one. He was always very opinionated. The blog just gave him the opportunity to do it without a beat. He still getting his sh-t off, just opinionating.

YELLOW REBEL: So what are y’all favorite tracks on HNIC 2? Personally.

HAVOC: I like all of them. I listen to the whole album, I can’t even pick a favorite one. I like all of them.

Alchemist: I like the first joint. I like all of Sid Roams joints, to be honest. I think they came through on the album. Hav’s sh-t. Everybody elses sh-t, you know? Leave my stuff alone, I’m used to it. I like the rest of the album.

YELLOW REBEL: From what I understand, P’s in a cell right now because he wouldn’t snitch on 50. How important is that type of loyalty? Al, you been down for a minute, Hav, you’re half the beginning. I mean how do you guys feel about that?

HAVOC: I mean it’s all on the person. It’s hard to… It’s good when you got loyalty.

Alchemist: Loyalty is important, it’s a genuine quality. Definitely a cool quality to have in life. In addition to a lot of other quality. Sometimes does another quality overrule that quality? Well, lemme step aside and wait til that situation arises.

YELLOW REBEL: There’s a “Free Prodigy” Tour coming up. How did that come about? Any input?

Alchemist: It’s not a free tour, for the fans..

YELLOW REBEL: (Laughs) I got you, I got you…

Alchemist: (Laughs) I’m just kidding. How did it come about?

YELLOW REBEL: Yeah like who’s idea was it?

Alchemist: The only thing with that thing is that we’ll be on the road rockin’. I think it was more of the label. The people wanted to make sure that the album was promoted properly. I mean we’ve toured before without P. You know? It’s not something we love to do, but the fans come out and support. Hav’s energy rocks. Same with Big Noyd. It’s a beautiful thing. Bring everybody.

YELLOW REBEL: Are there any plans for after P comes out, to go on tour again?

HAVOC: Yeah, maybe. That’s a better scenario. When he’s out.

YELLOW REBEL: Now as far as the next G-Unit album, y’all got any input on it?

HAVOC: Yeah they working on that right now. We should have some tracks on there too.

Alchemist: Yeah, I mean its an affiliated team, so you know we’ll definitely come through and play some beats. Will it make the album or not? We’ll see. But you know—me and Hav, we come with it every day. That’s just one phone call away. I know they’re working this week, so we’ll probably come through and lay some beats for them.

Kurtis Blow and KRS One Promote “No Profanity Day”

Posted by bigced on April 24, 2008

Kurtis Blow and other Hip Hop icons are challenging America. For one day: no crime, no violence, no hate, no murders, no sin – and no profanity. Their goals is to have one day of love, peace, unity, kindness, goodness, gentleness and fun with a series of events throughout the coarse of a day.

In the last 30 years, rap has steadily become a cultural phenomenon and its influence dominates as America’s latest offering of pop culture to the world. And now – the Parents Television Council, in partnership with the Enough is Enough Campaign, released shocking new data about BET’s and MTV’s daytime music video programming. As recently as March 2008, children who watched BET’s Rap City and 106 & Park and MTV’s Sucker Free on MTV were bombarded with adult content – sexual, violent, profane or obscene – once every 38 seconds.

Kurtis Blow comments, “No Profanity Day is a national holiday that is anointed and ordained right from the Bible and God. What would it hurt to have one day of this kind of behavior? It is a challenge for anyone to live like this for 24 hours. Spiritual people are commanded to live this way everyday. Can you make it happen for 24 hours? August 9, 2009 is the day. Also, there is a No Profanity Hip Hop Anniversary Tour launching in May and June of 2008 to start the buzz for the national holiday.”

He continues, “Our scriptural inspiration is Galatians 5:22-23 which says that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Supporters of No Profanity Day include Rev. Delman Coates, the NAACP, and thousands of other hip-hop fans and icons.

The anniversary tour will showcase legendary artists and enormous talents that created the rap music genre in the USA starting in May. The tour is sponsored by Visit Florida (www.visitflorida.com) and aims to present three hours of non-stop Hip Hop without profanity.

The series of U.S. and European shows will feature:
