NELLY GEARS UP TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “PARTY PEOPLE”

Posted by bigced on March 13, 2008

Derrty Entertainment/Universal Motown’s multi-platinum and Grammy winning rapper/actor/entrepreneur Nelly will soon release his kinetic new single “Party People,” from his upcoming 5th album Brass Knuckles.  Reminiscent of Nelly’s mega club hit “Hot In Herre,” “Party People” features the pop sensation, Fergie of the Black Eye Peas.

The new single, with a video scheduled for imminent shooting in Los Angeles, adds another signature club classic to Nelly’s celebrated run of undeniable dance smashes including his game-changing debut “Country Grammar,” and the seven-week No. 1 “Hot in Herre.” Joining Nelly behind the board is track producer Polow Da Don, one of today’s most bankable hitmakers, with a long resume of smashes by Usher, Ludacris, Ciara, Rich Boy, Fergie and many others. He is No. 5 Hot 100 Producer and No. 1 R&B/Hip-Hop Producer, in Billboard Magazine’s 2007 year-end rankings.

“Party People” is a hot advance taste of Brass Knuckles, Nelly’s first full album of new songs since his historic simultaneously-released 2004 multi-platinum chart-toppers Sweat and Suit. Blending old and new school hip-hop, the guest list of Brass Knuckles is packed with such heavyweight as Chuck D., Jermaine Dupri, Akon, T.I., LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg and Nelly’s own hometown vets the St. Lunatics.

With the release of Sweat and Suit, Nelly was the first hip-hop artist to debut at #1 and #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, placing him alongside just two other legends, Bruce Springsteen and Guns N’ Roses. He combined the two albums into the innovative 2005 release Sweatsuit, and added to the package his 4th No. 1 single, “Grillz..” Nelly is a 3X Grammy winner, American Music Award recipient, and a 6X Billboard Music Awards winner, His 2001 classic release Country Grammar has sold eight million albums. Nelly starred in the remake of The Longest Yard, MTV Films’ biggest money-earner of all time, and was also executive producer of the hit soundtrack album.

The People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive alumnus has a decade-long list of accomplishments that include founding the label Derrty Entertainment, where he is currently CEO; launching two highly successful clothing labels, Apple Bottoms and Vokal and the all-natural energy drink Pimp Juice; and his ownership role in the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, along with BET founder Robert Johnson and basketball great Michael Jordan.  A noted philanthropist, Nelly has founded two charitable organizations which are close to his heart, Jes Us 4 Jackie and 4 Sho 4 Kids.

Legendary Halftime Show on WNYU Radio Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary with Slew of Hip Hop’s Finest

03.12.2008

(March 12, 2008 — Brooklyn, NY) Hosts of WNYU’s Halftime Show, DJ’s Eclipse and Skizz rang in their 10 year anniversary show on Wednesday, March 5th with dozens of legendary guests, including DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Sadat X, Masta Ace, Craig G, Joell Ortiz, plus many more.

DJ Eclipse started the historic night with radio personalities Bobbito (WKCR & WQHT), J Smooth with DJ’s A.Vee & Spinna (WBAI), Martin Moore, Mayhem & Sunset (WNYU), P-Fine (WNYU), Riz (WBAU, WNYU & WKTU), Sucio Smash & Timm See (WKCR), who came on to warm up the stage for the slew of emcees and producers who spit scathing rhymes backed by live beats. Eclipse brought on the group Natural Elements as a tribute to them being the first guests he had on the very first Halftime Show in March 1998. DJ’s Revolution and Scratch performed short DJ routines between sets. The show normally runs from 10:30pm until 1am every Wednesday night on 89.1 FM and online at www.wnyu.org but on this special night, the show continued into the night until 1:40am. Press delegates from all facets of the industry, music, lifestyle, and news, came to document the show.

The Halftime Show is regarded by music fans and artists alike as one of the best and few last-standing “real” hip hop radio shows in existence. The 10 Year Anniversary Show brought together NY’s finest talent in one place, making for a historical event. Says Eclipse, “The night was pretty perfect; everyone did their thing and we accomplished what we set out to do, which was to pay tribute and represent all the major players in the NY and radio hip-hop scene. Our anniversary shows are always a big deal and this time was no different; we brought together the best emcees to spit freestyles on top of live beats being produced by a sampling of the best producers around. It was monumental; I’m extremely happy with how it all went down.” Renowned emcee A.G. from the Diggin’ In the Crates crew adds, “Eclipse and the Halftime Show has always supported DITC and the show is a landmark in hip-hop, period. The anniversary show was like kung fu where you test your skills live with a bunch people.”

Eclipse is offering fans downloads of the show, including the exclusive extra 40 minute session that was officially “off air” here:
