Lil Jon Adds To His BME Click

Posted by bigced on February 3, 2008

Lil Jon’s BME Click grows with the addition of pro-skateboarders Greg Lutzka and Ryan Sheckler (from MTV’s ‘Life of Ryan’), pro-snowboarders Danny Kass and Dingo, and pro-surfer Travis Mellem. The entire BME Click, including Lil Jon, was at the X-Games in Aspen – supporting Kass as he competed in the SuperPipe competition this year – and they all welcomed in the Games with a blowout party for the BME Click Grenade Glove at the BME/Oakley House in Aspen on Thursday night.

Lil Jon explains, “All of the BME Athletes came together for the preview of the BME Grenade Glove and to support Danny Kass! BME Click was everywhere, from kids rockin’ our bandanas and New Era hats, to athletes riding BME snowboards. It’s always good to be with family, and that’s what X-Games was.” Kass shares, “When Lil Jon wanted to get into action sports he wanted to pull the illest crew together, and it is an honor to be picked by that man.” Sheckler also adds, “Action sports is taking over, and BME is a part of it. Keep your eyes open and get ready!”

BME Recordings was founded in 2001 by Lil Jon and his partners, and it’s home to both E-40, and Lil’ Scrappy as well. Lil Jon has crafted his signature sound making him one of the most in demand producers today, with artists such as Ciara, Usher, and Three 6 Mafia calling upon him to lend his talent. His accolades include several BMI’s Songwriter of the Year Awards, a Grammy, eight Billboard Awards, a Radio Music Award, a BET Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

RadioIO Launches Brand-New Hip-Hop & Soul Music Channels

Posted by bigced on February 3, 2008

Internet radio pioneer RadioIO (“radio eye-oh”), a service of IOWorld Media, Inc. (OTCPK: IWDM) is rapidly launching new, proprietary music channels to increase its selection from 28 to 60 during a period of only 30 days. The new channel rollouts will achieve RadioIO’s goal to stream 60 unique music channels by February 1, 2008.

The new 60-channel selection offers some familiar, mainstream music formats such as Pop and Classic Rock, as well as previously unexplored music genres, such as Newgrass and Women in Rock, and is positioned as an Internet/mobile equivalent of satellite radio’s diverse music offering.

“Doubling our music channel offerings in just 30 days is an excellent demonstration of what is possible using this medium, and further accentuates our technical and economic advantages over both satellite and terrestrial radio,” said RadioIO founder Mike Roe. “We can increase, modify and enhance our channel lineup infinitely without having to build another tower or reallocate spectrum, and do it at a tiny fraction of the cost that these other broadcasters would incur.”

Music selections on RadioIO are hand-picked by music experts and aficionados known as stream hosts, who regularly interact with RadioIO’s audience of more than one million unique listeners.  The audience has reiterated time and again its preference for RadioIO’s model of fewer commercials and less chatter, coupled with the convenience and interactivity of Internet radio. In addition to its free, ad-supported channels, RadioIO also offers a $4.99/month SoundPass for listeners who wish to listen commercial-free.

Here are the brand-new RadioIO hip-hop and soul music channels:

Nu Soul – Nu Soul brings soul music’s vibe from the past to the present – an eclectic blend of love songs, ballads, funk and jazz, produced for today’s discriminating listener, from artists including Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jill Scott and Lenny Kravitz.

Top 20 Hip-Hop Hits – A sizzling mix of today’s biggest, chart-topping beats, raps and rhymes by the hottest stars in hip-hop, created from the newest charts, airplay and requests. Raw enough for the street but safe enough for work, so you won’t miss a hot minute.

Top 20 R&B Hits – Here’s your favorite mix of adult contemporary R&B music, featuring current Billboard top 20 R&B adult hits as well as some everlasting favorites to make it feel smooth all over, every time.

R&B Mix – A hot R&B music mix that features all your favorite jammin’ oldies and upbeat sounds from the early ‘80s to today, and that plays the best from artists including Quincy Jones, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and Beyoncé.

Classic Hip-Hop – The sounds of hip-hop’s roots and its evolution from the streets of the Bronx in the ‘70s to the pre-gangsta rap of the early ‘90s. It’s hip-hop’s history straight from Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy and Queen Latifah, among others.

Today’s R&B – Current top R&B artists and tracks from today’s hottest producers and beat makers: Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Timbaland, Beyoncé and Rihanna, to name just a few.

They join this recently-debuted, popular RadioIO R&B music channel:

Classic R&B – Classic R&B and soul from the mid-‘60s to late ‘70s is some of the best music that America’s ever produced, performed here around the clock by the era’s most memorable artists, such as Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Al Green and James Brown.

Launched as a single music stream in 1999 by music lover Roe in his home, RadioIO has grown into one of the Internet’s most resilient music brands. In November 2005, it became the world’s first publicly-traded Internet radio operation. RadioIO is featured on directories including iTunes, WindowsMedia.com, Real.com and SHOUTcast.com, and enjoys more than 30 integral partnerships with Palm, Philips, Sonos, Escient, and Slim Devices, among others. Wireless access is available via RadioIO’s IO2go service, or any SmartPhone. To experience RadioIO, go to www.radioIO.com.

KATHERINE HEIGL NAMED MOST DESIRABLE WOMAN OF 2008 BY ASKMEN.COM READERS

Posted by bigced on February 3, 2008

AskMen.com, the Internet’s top men’s lifestyle site, today unveiled its 8th annual list of the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women.” AskMen.com readers cast more than five million votes to rank the women who best embody all the qualities of an ideal girlfriend or wife. Katherine Heigl, who dominated both small and big screens over the past year, took home top honors as the Most Desirable Woman of 2008. Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio was the runner-up and actress Kate Beckinsale rounded out the top three. The remaining top ten encompass a slew of actresses – including Eva Mendes, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel – while singer Rihanna, and supermodels Marisa Miller and Adriana Lima complete the top ten. Readers can view the full “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” list as well as profiles and pictures of each at http://www.askmen.com/specials/top_99_women/index.html.

“I think I probably climbed in the ratings because I married Tony Parker. So people think, “Cool! Sports guy!!” All of that is really flattering and fun. Someone asked me, ‘How does it feel to be called sexy and make all these lists?’ And I said, ‘Well, I guess it’s better than the alternate lists – the not-so-hot of the year!’ So I’d rather make those lists.”

-          Eva Longoria Parker, Number 29

Unlike other lists, the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” challenges AskMen.com readers to choose women from the worlds of music, fashion and entertainment that they feel best represent the full range of the qualities that today’s man desires most in a modern female. Every year, voters from all over the world are asked to look beyond sex appeal and beauty to pick women who have the characteristics they value in a potential companion, like intelligence, humor, charisma and ambition. The result is a list far more telling than the common “Most Sexy” or “Most Beautiful” lists published elsewhere.

“I have such an eclectic life in Hollywood, wearing so many different hats on a daily basis, and am proud of what I have accomplished thus far. That very much includes my ranking on AskMen.com. The poll continues to bring a smile to my face each year.”

-          Maria Menounos, Number 11

“Each year we look forward to see who our readers determine as the most desirable women and this year’s list really goes to show who they relate with and find beautiful, charming and personable,” said James Bassil, Editor-in-Chief of AskMen.com. “As our site continues to expand worldwide and reach more men, we love the diversity of the list and feel that there is at least one woman on the list that each of our eight million readers would find as their perfect companion.”

Now in its 8th year, the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” continues to draw a record number of visitors to AskMen.com. Last year’s voters named Beyoncé Knowles as the Most Desirable Woman for 2007. This year, readers continued the momentum by casting more than five million votes over a six week period.

More of AskMen.com’s “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” Respond

-          Maggie Q., Number 17

“It really is such a compliment to be listed among so many beautiful women from all around the world in the AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women list. A big thank you to everyone that voted.”

-          Miranda Kerr, Number 19

“It was such a pleasant surprise to see myself in AskMen.com’s Top 99 list of women of 2008! To be among all those celebrities??? Me? HURRAY!! Of course I’m happy and touched that AskMen.com fans like me! It’s a nice Happy New Year gift for me and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This is all very exciting. :-)

-          Bianca Beauchamp, Number 31

“Thanks so much to all the AskMen.com readers who voted me into their list four years in a row.  I’m pregnant again, and I still made the cut, I love it!!!”

-          Brooke Burke, Number 32

“I love that AskMen.com Top 99 Most Desirable Women is a list compiled by the readers and based on something other than just pure looks.  Thank you guys!”

-          Danna Garcia, Number 49

“I want to send a big ‘gracias’ to my fans and the readers of AskMen.com for voting me into the Top 99 Most Desirable Women.  It feels great to be on a list that focuses on more than just a woman’s sex appeal once again.”

-          Sofia Vergara, Number 45

“It’s very flattering. It’s been an amazing year and this shows that people have been following my tennis, so that’s a big honor. And like all women, I feel very flattered when I receive a compliment about how I look, so it’s very nice.”

-          Ana Ivanovic, Number 73

“AskMen.com rocks!  I’m thrilled to be on the list.”

-          Nadine Velazquez, Number 78

“I’d just like to say thank you to all of the AskMen readers out there for voting me into the Top 99 Women of 2008! And a special thanks to all the nerds/geeks/dorks/gamers out there who set aside time out of their busy schedules of leveling up their WoW toon, collecting stars in Super Mario Galaxy, saving the world from utter annihilation in Mass Effect or working towards expert on drums in Rock Band to vote me into the list. You guys (and gals?) are the ROXXORZ!!!1!!1 Thanks again!”

-          Jessica Chobot, Number 88

BET Premieres HIV/AIDS Special Tackling Issue Of Stigma And Spread Of HIV Among Blacks In U.S. And Caribbean On Black AIDS Day!

Posted by bigced on February 3, 2008

BET Networks today announced plans to air the BET News special STIGMA: THE SILENT KILLER, a half-hour show that examines the role that stigmas have played in the spread of HIV/AIDS among people of color in both the U.S. and the Caribbean on Thursday, February 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  This news special coincides with the nationally-observed Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (February 7), and is part of a longstanding Emmy Award-winning public education partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation, the “BET Rap-It-Up” Campaign.

Examining the issue of stigma from multiple perspectives, this special news documentary explores the challenges faced by Blacks living with HIV, as well as the negative impact of stigma on prevention efforts.  The show takes a look at how some Black religious leaders have reacted to the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in their communities and the position the Black church has taken in addressing the epidemic.  Additionally, the special highlights the role that media and entertainment industries have played in encouraging stigma; and also explores how stigma impacts personal relationships among families and HIV-positive individuals.

The show will also feature up-close and personal interviews with political and religious figures, public health experts, entertainers and people affected by HIV/AIDS, including Dr. Kevin Fenton, Director of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB prevention; Phil Wilson, Founder and Executive Director of the Black AIDS Institute; and Ainsley Reid, CEO and Co-Founder of the Jamaican Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS.  Also, BETonBlast, BET.com’s broadband channel, will feature exclusive clips from the show immediately following the premiere on Thursday, February 7.
