Kingdom Records Wins Label of the Year at Chicago Music Awards

Kingdom Records continues to raise the bar for a pure praise and worship experience by recording music that is timeless, not trendy, sung by singers who are servants, who worship weekly at their home church and are not recording artists in the usual sense. This commitment to excellence and chart success by the label was amply rewarded at the 27th Chicago Music Awards on Sunday, January 27th, where Kingdom Records was honored as Record Label of the Year. The gala was held at Chicago’s historic Park West Theater.

“This is the only awards program of its kind in Chicago to pay tribute to Chicago born and bred artists and entertainers,” said CMA founder & producer Ephraim Martin. “Reggae and Reggaeton, Jazz & Blues, Rap & Hip Hop, Classical, Country & Western and even Polka, we have music for nearly every possible taste.” Internationally known Chicago-bred entertainer Kanye West topped the list of nominees with 5 nominations out of a possible 42.  He was joined at the top by Common, Twista, Lupe Fiasco and “new kids on the block,” Rich Kiddz.  Other top nominees included Country/Western singer Dayna Malow, Rock group Wilco, Gospel entertainer Lemmie Battles and R&B entertainer Teresa Griffin along with Chicago legends R. Kelley, Koko Taylor, Chi-Lites, Jennifer Hudson, Buddy Guy and Ramsey Lewis.
